Types of Poetry: Cinquain

Sink into cinquain poems in this delightful three-page worksheet! Students will read three cinquain poems about raindrops, autumn, and snowflakes respectively. They will answer a series of multiple-choice questions about the figurative language in the poems, sort similes and metaphors, make figurative comparisons, and write some of their own similes and metaphors.

This reading comprehension worksheet was designed for third- through fifth-grade students. They can learn about a new type of poem while also getting plenty of practice analyzing and understanding figurative language, a vital skill for reading not just poetry, but many other forms of literature.
