Make an AB-Cheese Broil

Say A, B, Cheese! Help your preschooler learn her ABCs the tasty way with this twist to the classic grilled cheese sandwich, the AB-Cheese Broil. Just make alphabet letters out of cheese slices, place on top of bread, and bake. Whether you want to reinforce a letter of the day or you just want to send your kid a sweet message with her afternoon snack, the AB-Cheese Broil is one delicious way to do it.
Serves: 1 or more
Cook Time: 15 minutes
What You Need:
- 1 package white cheese slices
- 1 package yellow cheese slices
- 1 slice of bread for each person
- Knife
- Cutting board
- Baking sheet
- Oven mitts
What You Do:
- Select or have your child select a word (or letter) to place on the sandwich.
- Place one slice of white cheese on the bread.
- Place the yellow cheese on the cutting board work surface and cut out letters with a sharp knife.
- Peel the letters out of the cheese. Spell the word by placing the letters on the white cheese that is on the bread.
- Place the slice of bread on the baking sheet.
- Turn the oven on broil. Place the baking sheet under the broiler for a few minutes until the cheese melts. Watch carefully so the cheese does not burn. Wear oven mitts and remove the baking sheet from the oven.
- Place the cheese sandwich on a plate to serve.
