Flags have long been used to represent and transmit messages. For example, certain flags are used at sea so that ships can talk to one another, and signal flags have been used during wars to send messages and to move the military. Flags can also represent families, such as with a coat of arms.
The underlying theme of a flag is communication. But special flags can also let someone know how you are feeling. This project opens the door to many interpretations of the idea of communication. By making his own flag, your child can represent his family, his imaginary country, his feelings or his name. The sky's the limit, so hoist your flag high!
