Let’s start building numbers! Just as building skyscrapers is a visual representation of mathematics, students will use the visual representation of base-ten blocks to add—or build—onto a two-digit number.

Use this scaffolded EL lesson to teach students about money and the bills we use to pay for things. Use alongside Base Ten Money: Hundreds, Tens, and Ones or alone as an independent lesson.

In this lesson, students use cubes to build arrays to represent factor pairs of numbers within 100. They use this understanding to identify multiples as well.

Students will get to explore three-digit numbers through base-ten blocks and written form. Students will get plenty of practice identifying the place values of a number both individually and with the class.
