Science fair project that examines the behavior of water and gravel in creek beds and the formation of sedimentary rocks.

There are hundreds of properties in rocks which you can describe, so get your geology goggles on and get ready to rock your child's science skills.

Kids learn about examples of mechanical weathering and conduct an experiment with seeds and plaster in this cool geology science fair project idea.

In this science fair project, students create their own miniature salt flats at home.

In this experiment, students find out what happens when a less-dense fluid interacts with a denser one, replicating the effect of cooler solid rock on magma.

In this experiment, students will discover how heat and pressure turn clay into slate, phyllite, and finally schist.

In this science fair project, students use the streak test to tell minerals apart from each other.

In this science fair project, learn how a mineral streak is made and how it can help identify an unknown mineral.

In this science fair project, students learn how pressure can make the minerals in a rock line up in the same direction and form bands and foliation.

In this science fair project, students discover how sedimentary layers form as sediments like mud, silt and sand settle over time.

Here's a fun activity to show your child how to use prefixes and root words to "root out" the meaning of a word!

In this popcorn experiment, students can explore how two things made out of the same material can have very different appearances and densities.

This science project uses Mohsâ Hardness Test to show kids how to compare the hardness of different types of minerals.

The next time you've got a restless second grade earth scientist on your hands, use this experiment to demonstrate crystals and make a tasty treat, too!

Kids will conduct a cool limewater carbon dioxide test that can be performed with common household materials to learn about the chemistry of this common gas.

Did you even wonder why some rocks are round and smooth while others are broken up into small pieces?

Science fair project which tests various sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks to find out whether one rock family is stronger than the others.
