Support your EL students in understanding and identifying parts of speech such as adverbs and adjectives in a text. This lesson plan can also support the lesson Varsity Parts of Speech Review.

In this great grammar lesson, your students will practice using the eight parts of speech to complete sentences.

By the upper grades, students are pretty familiar with nouns, verbs, and adjectives. This rich, engaging varsity-level review incorporates the lesser-studied parts of speech: articles, prepositions, adverbs, and superlative adjectives.

Interjections, one of the eight parts of speech, can be the most exciting. They help students interject some fun and drama into their writing and conversations. In this lesson, they'll brainstorm how to use interjections in their sentences.

In this lesson, Significance of "Let Freedom Ring" in MLK, Jr.'s Speech, students will be able to understand the allusion Martin Luther King, Jr. makes to the song "My Country 'Tis of Thee." Have students discuss allusions in this speech.

This engaging lesson will revisit the basic parts of speech and address why some words have can have more than one part of speech. Students will then enjoy a fun group challenge to turn adjectives into nouns by modifying the word endings.
