Teach your students to predict and explain features of scaled regular shapes.

In this lesson your students will classify two-dimensional shapes using a Venn diagram based on their features.

Use this fun and easy lesson plan to teach your students to predict and calculate dimensions for shapes to scale in sets.

Show your students how coordinate planes can be useful in seeing the distance between various locations! Have them draw shapes on a coordinate plane and determine the location of corners.

Classifying figures by features is a fundamental geometry skill. Use this lesson plan to teach your students how to categorize triangles by internal angle types.

In this lesson, students will recognize volume as an attribute of solid figures and learn to calculate volume by counting cubes. This is a great introduction to the formula V = L x W x H.

Substitutes can keep your students learning in your absence by using these engaging lessons, worksheets, and activities. In this one-day sub plan, students will measure volume, consider facts and opinions, and write an opinion piece.

Students will begin to calculate volume of different rectangular prisms using base ten cubes and then transition to using the formula V = L x W x H. Students will then practice using the legendary fifth grade activity, Cootie Catchers.

Students will apply the formula V = l × w × h to find the volume for rectangular prisms in the context of solving real-world problems.

You'll see angles from every angle! Students will describe and compare different angles they see in everyday situations. Use this lesson on its own or use it as support to the lesson Classifying Triangles by Internal Angles.

The activities in this lesson will engage students in thinking about how a person’s position, needs, and concerns affect their point of view on an issue. Students will apply this to characters in "The Memory String" by Eve Bunting.

In this lesson, your students will calculate and illustrate area for rectangles using area models, where one side length includes a fraction.

Students will practice calculating volume as an additive property by making mock hamster mansions from boxes. Groups will calculate the volume of living space that they designed for their hamster in cm³ and document their work.
