In this lesson, your students will learn how to buy items and use money to purchase items in the real world. You will set up a store for the students to learn about money.

Let’s start building numbers! Just as building skyscrapers is a visual representation of mathematics, students will use the visual representation of base-ten blocks to add—or build—onto a two-digit number.

Students will get to explore three-digit numbers through base-ten blocks and written form. Students will get plenty of practice identifying the place values of a number both individually and with the class.

Help your students show their understanding as they explain how to add fractions with unlike denominators. Use this lesson on its own or as support to the lesson Make It Work! Adding Fractions with Unlike Denominators.
