Reader's Theater: The Grasshopper and the Ant

Places, everyone! This one-page fable tells the story of a grasshopper who wants to frolic all summer while the ants spend their days gathering food for the winter. There are four characters: the grasshopper, narrator, ant chorus, and ant.

Created for third and fourth graders, this reader’s theater will encourage students to focus on reading aloud with expression, clarity, and accuracy. Performing a reader’s theater can also allow learners to interact with the text in a new and engaging way, leading to better comprehension of the plot, characters, and sequence of events.
