How to Make a Laurel Wreath

What You Do:

1. Have your child cut out a selection of football-shaped leaves from the green felt. She'll want a sizeable pile for her laurel wreath -- at least 30 leaves.
2. Help her use craft glue to attach the first leaf to one end of the plastic head band, pointing down towards the ground. Make sure the plastic end is completely covered by the felt. She won't want plastic poking out of her laurel wreath!
3. Let her add on a second leaf to make a "V" shape with the first one. Laurel wreaths are made up of these pairs of "V" shape leaves.
4. Have her continue to cover the plastic headband with these pairs of felt leaves. Help her make adjustments if the leaves start to lose their "V" shape.
5. When she reaches the halfway point of the headband, have her stop.
6. She should start at the other end of the plastic headband and cover it in the same way she covered the other half. This will ensure that both ends of the laurel wreath look identical.
7. Put aside the headband to dry.
8. When it's ready, let your child proudly wear her laurel wreath!
