Design Your Own Wrapping Paper

What You Do:

1. Have your child pick out what colors to use to make his holiday paper.
2. Fill paper plates with a small amound of the colors of tempera paint watered-down.
3. Place a sheet of easel paper on a work surface along with the plates.
4. Share with your child the rosemary or pine tree sprigs and allow him to use his senses to explore them.
5. Invite your child to drag the branch of rosemary or the pine branch through a color of paint and then onto the easel paper.
6. Encourage your child to make large movements with his hands and arms while using the branches to create unique lines and designs. Along with creating some beautiful hand-made wrapping paper, he is using his motor skills to create art!

This wrapping paper activity is great for the holiday season when there are so many presents to wrap, as well as any time of the year to make a gift extra special. Have fun!
