Homemade Christmas crafts hold the most meaning, and these sparkling, colorful ornaments are a blast to make. Kids love painting and peeling with glue, and this craft combines it with the holidays for a fun way to spend an afternoon indoors. They're great as gift tags too!
What You Need:
- Wax paper
- White glue
- Food coloring
- Disposable containers
- Small paint brushes
- Glitter
- Embroidery floss
What You Do:
- Have your child lay down a few sheets of wax paper on a flat surface.
- Make a few different colors to work with by mixing white glue and food coloring in some empty containers.
- Have your child pour or paint small blobs of colored glue onto the wax paper.
- Form different shapes with the glue, like circles, diamonds or tear drops. The more variety, the better!
- Let the ornaments dry overnight. As they dry, the colors will become more intense and slightly translucent.
- Then comes the fun part! Carefully peel them off the wax paper and if necessary, trim off any rough edges.
- Next, help your child cut pieces of thread about 5" long. Fold each piece in half to make a loop and glue the ends to the back of each ornament. Let dry.
- Now your child can decorate the ornaments with more colored glue and sprinkle glitter on top for a dazzling ornament!
Now you can add sparkle to your tree!
