Learn how the languages of people indigenous to North America have contributed American English. Each student will research a word derived from an indigenous language and design a page for a class book featuring up to 30 indigenous words.


Observe Indigenous People's Day by Learning about Borrowed Words from Native American Languages

Students will explore self-esteem through the book *I Like Myself* by Karen Beaumont. They will write secret kindness notes to others and to themselves, and reflect on how self-esteem can support connection with oneself and the community. 

I Like Myself

Use this lesson to teach your students about Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy he left behind. With a picture book that shares facts and beautiful illustrations to teach about his life,  students will show understanding by organizing information on a graphic organizer.
