Advance your students from relative measurements to learning about standardized units with this lesson that teaches them about inches and feet by using common classroom objects.

In this lesson, your students will measure the lengths of items and then make a line plot to show the measurement data. They will get hands-on by measuring and surveying the class.

Young mathematicians will enjoy demonstrating their skills with this lesson on finding area. It addresses the concepts of length, width, and square units.

Introduce your students to area and teach them to use the formula Area = Length x Width within the context of real world problems.

Use this support lesson to provide students with the opportunity to explore what it means to estimate. This hands on activity can be used alone or alongside the lesson Estimating Length.

How big is a foot? Students find out to explore how to measure in feet by comparing their own feet to rulers. Then they set off to measure the length and width of the classroom!

It’s time to explore meters! In this lesson, students dive into measuring using meters, learning how to use meter sticks and estimate length in meters.

You need the length and the width to find the area of a rectangle or square, but what if one piece of information is missing? Use this lesson alongside What's My Area? or on its own.

This support lesson provides students the opportunity to use two different tools to measure the length of familiar objects while introducing content specific vocabulary words. Use alone or alongside the lesson How Big is the Playground?

This lesson provides students with the opportunity to critically think about data. Use this lesson alongside Line Plots: Representing the Length of Classroom Items or as a stand alone lesson.

Help your students learn how long a minute is with this lesson that shows them how the length of a minute can appear to change depending on the activity, all while putting their time estimation skills to the test.

It’s time to get measuring! In this lesson students determine the lengths of different towers and then put them in order from shortest to longest.

Teach your students the early concepts of measuring with a ruler and comparing lengths with this hands-on lesson. Students use popsicle sticks to measure magazine cutouts using comparative adjectives such as big, bigger, and biggest.

Looking for a fun way to learn about measurement? Inch on over to this engaging lesson. Students will love using their own feet to determine the lengths of different objects.

Students will solve area problems by multiplying side lengths for rectangular shapes in real world contexts.

In this hands-on lesson, your students will get to sharpen their measuring skills as they measure lengths of items in your classroom to the nearest quarter inch. They'll get to then use their data to create line plots.

Help your students use rulers in the classroom with this lesson! Encourage them to measure items around them using centimeters to understand shapes and sizes.

Your students will jump into math concepts like measurement and comparison with this delightful investigative activity! How far do kangaroos jump? Pretend to be a kangaroo and find out!

Make real world connections with your students when it comes to perimeter. Use this geometry lesson with your students to discuss real contexts and teach them how to calculate perimeter.

A hands-on approach makes geometry fun! Use this lesson to teach your students about the basics of perimeter with geoboards.

Finding the perimeter of a polygon is a simple process with addition! Use this lesson to teach your students how to find the perimeter of polygons.
