Looking for a simple, inexpensive way to help dress up your holiday table? Look no further! Your child can help you make these festive napkin rings. They’re pretty, practical, and will cost you pennies. Plus, they make for a fun arts and crafts project that will keep your child busy while you set the holiday table!

What You Need:

  • A cardboard paper towel roll
  • A ruler
  • A pencil
  • Adult scissors
  • Festive gift wrap
  • Glue
  • Wide ribbon

What You Do:

  1. Divide the paper towel roll into about seven equal sections, depending on how wide you want them to be. A paper towel roll will make about seven average-sized napkin rings. Mark measurements with a pencil.
  2. Cut the roll at the pencil marks. Trim any jagged edges off pieces.
  3. Hold a piece against the wrapping paper and measure an extra inch on each side. Cut a strip that wide and long enough to go around circumference of roll. Cut, and confirm that it fits correctly. Then hold that strip up to the remaining gift wrap and cut enough identical strips to cover the rest of the rolls.
  4. Help your child to cover one roll, outside and in, with glue, and wrap the gift wrap around the outside. Smooth down any bumps, then fold the overhanging gift wrap down on the inside of the roll. Repeat with remaining rolls and gift wrap.
  5. Let dry overnight.
  6. When completely dry, have your child wrap a pretty ribbon around the outside of each roll and help him to tie it in a pretty bow. Bon apetit!
