Go Camping Without Leaving Home!
Topics: Arts and Crafts
There's nothing more relaxing than sitting by an open fire, roasting marshmallows, and singing campfire songs. But when it's too cold for the real thing (or you just can't find the time) a tissue paper campfire and a makeshift tent will bring a breath of the outdoors right into your home!
What You Need:
- Sticks
- Red, orange, and yellow tissue paper
- Large top bed sheet
- Graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate
- Sleeping bags (optional)
- Flashlights (optional)
What to Do:
- Arrange the sticks on the floor in a circle.
- Make a pile of tissue paper, with yellow on the bottom, orange in the middle, and red on top. Pinch the center and lightly crumple the pieces together. Place it on top of the sticks to make a roaring fire.
- Then take the sheet and drape it over a table, or hang it over the back of two chairs to set up your "tent."
- Finally, place some graham crackers topped with marshmallows onto a plate. Pop them in the microwave for 6-12 seconds. Note: it's important that you keep an eye on the marshmallow as it's cooking. It could expand too much and you'll end up with a sticky mess in your microwave!
- When the marshmallow is melted, add a square of chocolate and top it off with another cracker. Now that you have your s'mores, break out those sleeping bags and flashlights and have a campout on your living room floor! Isn't camping great?
