Transform a regular white paper plate into a pumpkin mask using orange tempera paint, black markers, scissors and an elastic cord – scary enough to get lots of treats!
What You Need:
- White paper plate
- Orange tempera paint
- Paintbrush
- Black marker
- Scissors
- Elastic cord
- Pencil
- Hole punch
What You Do:
- Lay the paper plate face down. Draw two triangles for the eyes and one triangle for the nose.
- Draw the mouth of the pumpkin. Draw scary teeth made up of triangles to create a jack-o-lantern.
- Carefully cut out the eyes, nose and the mouth with a pair of scissors. To start the cut, help puncture a hole in a corner so scissors can fit in to cut along the lines.
- Paint the entire pumpkin orange with tempera paint. The teeth can be left white or painted. Allow the paint to dry completely.
- Use a marker to draw around the two triangle eyes, nose and the teeth. Give the pumpkin face eyebrows.
- Measure the mask against your child’s face to figure out where the elastic band should be placed. Once he can see through the eye-holes, use a pencil on the ribbed edge of the plate to show the best place to put the elastic cord. Mark both sides.
- Punch out both pencil markings. Tie a knot with the elastic band through both holes.
