This Halloween, make your house truly haunted with this fun recipe: Scary Eyeballs! Make serving deviled eggs a truly devilish experience by using hard-boiled eggs and olives to create eyeballs that are scary enough to entertain and good enough to eat. These Scary Eyeballs are the perfect dish for any Halloween party and make a delicious and healthy post-trick-or-treat snack for your child.

Serves: 6 to 12

Cook Time: 30 minutes

What You Need:

  • 6 hard-boiled eggs
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
  • 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
  • 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 black or green olives
  • Alfalfa sprouts
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Medium bowl
  • Fork
  • Spoon
  • Styrofoam egg carton, washed with soapy water and dried

What You Do:

  1. Crack open a hard-boiled egg. Peel the shell from the egg.
  2. Cut the egg in half the short way, across the middle, not from end to end.
  3. Remove cooked yolk from the egg and place it in the bowl. Crack, peel and cut the other hard-boiled eggs.
  4. Mash all the yolks with a fork. Add mayonnaise, mustard, pickle relish, and salt to the yolks and mix well.
  5. Spoon yolk mixture into each egg white half to resemble an eyeball.
  6. Slice each olive in half with a knife.
  7. Place an olive on top of each egg to resemble the pupil and iris of an eye.
  8. Stuff each egg carton compartment with alfalfa sprouts. Place an eyeball on top of the sprouts in each egg carton compartment.

To serve, place the egg carton on the table so guests can select eyeballs to munch on!
