In this lesson, students will read the story *My Many Colored Days* by Dr. Seuss, and reflect on the many different feelings we may experience. They will use body maps to color in where they may feel different emotions in their body.

My Many Colored Days

We all have our own home of feelings inside, like a shell that we can tuck into when needed. This we learn from turtles, and now your students can too. This lesson helps students access that place inside full of feelings, emotions, and thoughts. 

Mindfulness: A Home Inside

Reflecting on growth can support deeper learning and understanding of ourselves. In this lesson, students will reflect on ways they have grown in practicing mindfulness and living in a community through writing and planting a tree together. 

Reflections on Positive Relationships

In this lesson, students will learn about how emotions change and will understand and discuss different feeling words for different emotions by associating emotions with colors, visuals, and a charades game. 

Range of Emotions

Kind acts can make a big difference in somone's day. These kind acts can multiply and create a culture of kindness in schools and communities. In this lesson, students will reflect on the importance of kindness and commit to kind actions!

In this lesson students, learn how to listen and practice community-building skills using the circle process. This lesson helps build community and establish norms for how students communicate with each other.

In this lesson, students will discuss similarities and differences in a fish bowl activity. They will also learn tools to practice gratitude for each other's differences and similarities.

In this lesson, students will learn how their breath can be their greatest friend. They will practice and learn how to use their breath when they feel tense or overwhelmed, just like a magical tool!

In this lesson students will complete an activity called "Raise Your Hand If You..." and be able to define the word “assumption.” This lesson supports the practice of compassion for oneself and others.

Understanding Communities and Differences

In this lesson, students will use Daniel Siegel’s “hand model of the brain” to identify how their brains work. They will learn the term “prefrontal cortex" (PFC) and about how their brains can grow when they learn new things.

Strengthening Our Brains With Mindfulness

A calm jar works as a visual reminder when teaching emotional regulation techniques. In this lesson, students will practice mindfulness of emotions and create a class calm jar together as a class.
