No decoration is more meaningful that one your child has created. Your child can transform a plain plastic bottle into a colorful tea candle holder with the addition of some dazzling beads around it. This craft will encourage their designing and crafting skills and show them the usefulness of everyday objects. The finished creation is perfect for brightening any room or as a special gift for family or friends!

What You Need:

  • Water bottle
  • Scissors
  • Beads
  • Hot glue gun
  • Sand
  • Glitter
  • Tea candle

What You Do:

  1. Have your child to carefully cut away the bottom 3-4 inches from the bottom of the plastic water bottle. This will be the base for the candleholder.
  2. Now your child can start heating up the hot glue gun and start brainstorming her idea for the candleholder design. She can use the same kind of beads, create a varying pattern, or make an interesting design!
  3. Start working slowly using the hot glue gun to leave a small drop of glue and then placing a bead on top. Offer adult assistance as needed – hot glue guns are hot!
  4. Encourage your child to continue working until the outside of her candleholder is finished.
  5. Now she can fill the bottom of the water bottle with sand, leaving an inch of space for the tea candle. She can add a sprinkle of glitter to the sand to really make things sparkle!
  6. Have your child place a tea light in the center of the sand and have an adult light the candle!
