What happens when students explore their senses on the inside? This lesson encourages students to look at, listen to, and feel what is happening on the inside through practicing mindfulness. 

Mindfulness: The Outside and Inside Present

In this lesson students will be guided through a session of reflecting on their day and their emotions. They will also practice ways they can welcome and befriend their emotions with kindness and curiosity.

Welcoming All Feelings

In this lesson, students will create a paper chain based on their greatest strengths and attributes. They will also work with peers to share and identify each other's strengths.

Chains of Strengths

Deliberate practice of gratitude is a powerful way to grow happiness and build resilience. In this lesson, students will create a book as a way of reflecting on being human and practicing gratitude.

I Am Human

We all have our own home of feelings inside, like a shell that we can tuck into when needed. This we learn from turtles, and now your students can too. This lesson helps students access that place inside full of feelings, emotions, and thoughts. 

Mindfulness: A Home Inside

In this lesson, students will explore how sadness, loneliness, gratitude, connection, and love feel in their bodies. They will also learn about negativity bias and practice “soaking in the good” by savoring positive feelings.

Soaking in the Good

In this lesson, students will participate in a freeze dance, then be guided in slow-motion movements using mindfulness. Finally, they will discuss how movement and music can help them feel calm or energized.

In this social emotional learning activity, your child will write loving kindness notes to place around the home to serve as a reminder (for themselves and others) to see the goodness within themselves.

Positive Reminders

Are you a bucket filler? Children with good social skills lift each other up with compliments and praise, instead of put downs and negative comments. Use this lesson to teach your students about bucket filling and how to compliment others.

In this lesson, students will read the story *My Many Colored Days* by Dr. Seuss, and reflect on the many different feelings we may experience. They will use body maps to color in where they may feel different emotions in their body.

In this lesson, students will watch a video on growth mindset and work in pairs to share their ideas about growth vs. fixed mindsets. They will then collaborate to design their own skits about growth vs. fixed mindsets.

Communicating effectively during conflict is tough. In this lesson, students will practice mindful communication and discuss ways they may use these tools in their lives.

In this activity, you and your child will watch a video and learn how the brain easily remembers negative information, but not always positive. You will practice positivity by writing or drawing pictures of 10 positive things that happened today.

Negativity Bias

Students will hear about the benefits of mindfulness from JusTme's rap song, "I'm Inspired", practice mindfulness and the STOP tool, and then write raps of their own, encouraging others to practice mindfulness and the STOP method. 

Tools to STOP

In this social emotional learning activity, your child will practice a mindfulness and forgiveness visualization and write a letter to someone with whom they've had a minor conflict and would like to forgive.

Forgiveness

In this lesson, students will listen to, discuss, and understand two perspectives on a difficult situation. They will flip a coin, with each side representing one side of the story, and role-play the perspectives and reach a resolution.

In this social emotional learning activity, your child will participate in a mindfulness exercise focused on forgiveness. Then, they'll craft a Peace and Harmony Fidget Spinner to cultivate calmness.

Resolving Conflicts

The Peace Corner is a space where students may practice cool-down methods such as mindful walking, deep breathing, and mindful listening. Students will work together in groups to create activities for their classroom peace corner.

Motivation, perseverance, and grit are all key in learning and in the classroom! In this lesson, students will explore the term "perseverance" and research ways they can stay motivated in school and in their lives.

 In this lesson, students will move through stations to practice and reflect on the mindfulness and social emotional learning tools that they have learned throughout the year. 

Mindfulness, Community, and Nature Stations

In this lesson, students will work in groups and cut out pictures to make a collage that encapsulates their greatest strengths and talents. The class will compile all their collages to showcase their talents.

Children reflect on ways they have cared for themselves, others, and the Earth before building a garden to share beauty with others in their community.

The Earth is constantly giving us clean water, shelter, food, and so much more! Through this lesson, students will learn about how nature is always giving and discuss ways we can appreciate and take care of our environment.

Students will explore self-esteem through the book *I Like Myself* by Karen Beaumont. They will write secret kindness notes to others and to themselves, and reflect on how self-esteem can support connection with oneself and the community.

It all starts with gratitude. In this lesson, students will reflect on what they are grateful for and create a gratitude card and web of gratitude.

When we practice mindfulness we are better able to regulate our emotions, build compassion, and support greater ease. In this social emotional learning lesson plan, students will practice mindfulness and create a video that teaches others about mindfulness.

Seeing the best in ourselves can support us emotionally, socially, and academically. In this lesson, students will reflect on when they have been their best selves, and they'll practice loving kindness during a mindfulness session.
