Looking for a unique birthday card for someone special? Try this easy arts and crafts activity! Think of words to describe your friend beginning with each letter in her name! You'll create a fun name acronym that puts a personalized twist on traditional birthday cards. It's fun and simple, and can help younger children with reading and writing skills as older kids may broaden their vocabulary! This card is the perfect addition to any birthday, but it's also great to use on holidays, such as Mother's Day and Father's Day.
What You Need:
- Sheet of construction paper
- Colorful markers or crayons
- Stickers, sequins, glitter, feathers, glue (optional)
What You Do:
- Fold a sheet of paper in half hamburger-style. Flip it so that the crease is on the left, like a book.
- Take a marker and help your child write the name of the birthday person vertically on the left-hand side, with the first letter of the name at the top of the paper and the last letter of the name near the bottom.
- Brainstorm! Help your child come up with creative adjectives to describe her friend. For example, the name Beth could have the words: Beautiful, Energetic, Talented, Huggable. If you're having trouble coming up with words, break out the dictionary and search for some!
- If desired, decorate the outside of the card using stickers and glitter, or add an illustration using the crayons and markers.
- To finish, just add a greeting on the inside! This makes a great birthday card, but can also be used on holidays, such as Mother's Day and Father's Day.
