Rosh Hashanah is a Jewish celebration ringing in the Jewish New Year. Your child can use cut apples to make beautiful cards for friends and family, perfect for celebrating this special Jewish holiday. They also are a great way to say thank you to that special teacher.
What You Need:
- Apple
- Knife
- Blank cards
- Red tempera paint
- Paintbrush
- Paper plate
- Honey
What You Do:
- Invite your child to help slice an apple in half, cutting down the middle with the stem of the apple pointing up.
- Part of the celebration of L’Shona Tova is enjoying slices of apple dipped in honey to ring in the Jewish New Year. Along with slicing the apple in half, your child can cut a small section of apple from one of the ends and dip in a bit of honey to taste for herself!
- Now your child can pour a bit of red tempera paint into the paper plate and spread around using a paintbrush.
- Invite your child to position the blank white card on her work area and then press half the apple in the red paint. She can use the paintbrush to fill in the paint on the apple half as needed.
- Now she can press her apple slice onto the blank card and create her apple print cards. She can continue pressing and stamping to create lots and lots of prints – and cards!
- Invite your child to finish her cards with a short and sweet message and then send to friends and family!
