Learn how to turn your trash into treasure with this holiday craft that turns used plastic lids into beautiful decorations. Teach your child the importance of recycling by creating ornaments with just a touch of glue, paint and glitter. Give those boring old plastic lids a new life and impress your loved ones with this creative craft.

What You Need:

  • Clear plastic lid
  • Glue
  • Tempera paint
  • Glitter
  • Toothpick
  • Hole punch
  • Ribbon

What You Do:

  1. Start by squeezing enough glue into the plastic lid to create a thin coating. Squeezing the glue bottle hones fine-motor skills encouraging handwriting skills!
  2. Now add a few drops of tempera paint onto the glue covered plastic lid. He can stick with one color or add a few of his favorites.
  3. Use the toothpick to move the paint around with the glue creating a marbled effect.
  4. Now sprinkle the lid with glitter and let sit in a nice level spot over night to dry.
  5. Use a hole punch to create a hole and thread with a length of colorful ribbon.
