The recipe for friendship includes kindness, honesty, and understanding, among other things! In this lesson, students will discuss the recipe for friendship, make a perfect pot of tea, and reflect on how to make upset friends feel better.

In this lesson, students will learn the term "restorative justice." They will discuss the role of restorative justice in the book *What are you staring at?*, and they will brainstorm ways they can bring these practices into the classroom.

In this lesson, students will identify and practice different ways emotions can be expressed through faces, gestures, and movements. They'll also learn how to practice mindful breathing to manage strong emotions and self-regulate.

The peace corner is a space where students may practice previously taught calm-down methods, such as deep breathing and mindfulness. Students will draw a picture of themselves in the peace corner and practice in small groups.

Students will explore self-esteem through the book *I Like Myself* by Karen Beaumont. They will write secret kindness notes to others and to themselves, and reflect on how self-esteem can support connection with oneself and the community.

Seeing the best in ourselves can support us emotionally, socially, and academically. In this lesson, students will reflect on when they have been their best selves, and they'll practice loving kindness during a mindfulness session.

My Best Self

Listening to the soothing sounds of the ocean and practicing slowing down can be helpful to feel more calm and ease. Calming tools such as breathwork, mindful movement, and stillness are practiced in this ocean-themed lesson.

Breath, Movement, and Relaxation

In this lesson, students will learn about the importance of doing one thing at a time and listen to the book *What Does It Mean to Be Present?*. Then, they will experience the inefficiency of multitasking by doing three things at once.

One Thing at a Time

In this lesson, students explore ways they can give themselves more energy or help them relax. They will also learn that movement breaks are beneficial in releasing stress and tension and providing energy.
